The path to a new journey

I have been wanting to write a blog for a long time. I wrote one a few years ago when I took a job as a tour leader counseling children across the United States and Canada. It was a life changing experience, but since then I have had many more life changing experiences that I wanted to share with you to give you insight, knowledge and inspiration. I truly believe life is a journey and no matter what experience you have, you can learn something from every moment you have. With a positive mindset, confidence and taking action you can do whatever you are passionate about. After taking my summer trip in 2009 I built up enough courage to stay in New York and try to make it in the "Big City." I called my mom and said "Can you pack my cloths and send them to me? I am going to stay with a friend and see if I can live here." You could imagine my moms reaction. However I looked at life in a different way. After traveling and seeing beautiful scenery, doing engaging activities, inspiring young teenagers, and meeting diverse people I knew I needed a big life change. I was living in Florida before my trip, and was in a BIG rut. I felt confused and lost with myself and my career. I was in a job I did not enjoy and was going through some of my own personal issues. In the past FEAR would have stopped me from just jumping into anything. I would ask my self ten million questions having to know if what I was doing was right before doing it. All of a sudden I did not feel anxiety anymore. I felt excited and confident. I moved to New York and stayed with a friend for 2 months in New York City. Then I stayed with a friend in Long Island for the third month before moving into my own place. Those three months were thrilling, fun, and exausting. I made the best of my time by meeting new people, getting on the train and getting lost just to find new things in the city, volunteering, and working non sense jobs. The hard part was making money and still not knowing what my passion was! Again I took a step back and did not put so much pressure on finding my passion. I went to school for education so I became a substitute and got my New York teaching certification. There were not many teaching jobs though! I went on a bunch of interviews and received a job in sales. Me in sales? I clearly remember my friend Andrew saying "You will be there one day." My friend Patrick said "I did that in the past, you will hate it." BUT instead of going in with a negative outlook I gave it a shot and became really GOOD at sales! I learned so much about business, interacting with people and technology. So even though sales was not my passion you can still learn from every experience you have! The point of this post is to inform you that it may take you MANY steps to get to where you truly want to be but taking the journey is the beauty of it. Stay tuned to find out more about my journey to where I am now and helpful tips to get there!
